Avon Waters
Artist
Avon Waters (b. 1954) is a pastel and acrylic artist from Converse, Indiana.
Surrounded by nature and farms, Avon Waters began art as a
child. In college, he studied fine art photography and painting.
But it was while living in the San Francisco Bay area, Avon began
sensing his own style, influenced by the California artists’ use of
lavenders, yellows, gold, and unexpected color contrasts of
magenta and blues. Avon’s interest in a variety of favorite masters
lead to an interest in painting the air rather than the object itself.
After returning to the Midwest, Avon's principal medium became
pastel. He continues to experiment with wet pastel techniques,
and heavy surface textures, preferring to not start each painting in
the same way or use the same methods from painting to painting.
His landscapes appear regularly in galleries and museums across
the nation, as well as national and international exhibitions.
